So I have to talk about our Jimmy Buffett concert experience!
We arrived in Pittsburgh around 1pm Tuesday, checked into the hotel and by 1:15 we were on the bus with our first round of beer. The bus took us to the venue. It was cool because we loaded our coolers, chairs, etc on the bus and when we got there we just took it off the bus and set up camp in front of the bus. Now here's the cool part!!!! The Steel City Fins, (Pittsburgh's Parrothead Club) who we were in a group with, hired a band to play for us all day. Tom Watt is the lead singer. He looks like Jimmy Buffett even doubled for him in Hoot! http://www.tomwatt.com/ He was so awesome! He played from 4pm - 7:30pm and we had front row seats! We ended up having to ask someone to borrow their grill...The guy from our parrothead club that was supposed to bring the grill ended up not coming. So David went in search of a grill. He found one and unfortunately the guy was a HUGE Steelers fan. David hates the Steelers, but he kept quiet about it so he could still use the guys grill. Anyway, he wasn't real happy about all of it, but things turned out ok. There was a group next to the grill guy that had a 'prize' wheel. You had to spin the wheel and do whatever you landed on. He ended up getting to see alot of boobs. I mean ALOT. It was pretty hilarious. Jen walked over to him to check on her and Cheryl's hotdogs and she came back to report what was happening. So I went over and asked him if he as doing ok and he said 'what can i complain about, i've got a peepshow right in front of me' LOL. There were quite a few characters that's for sure. A mother and daughter were walking around topless but had parrots painted on their boobs. Seriously...their boobs were kinda misshaped so it looked really weird. All these trashy guys were getting their pictures taken with them. yuk!
At 7:30 we headed into the concert. We had pretty great seats. I am always on the lawn so it was nice to be in the pavilion for once. There were beach balls flying everywhere. We sat with our parrothead club and everyone was singing and dancing the whole time. He played for almost 3 hours! I was sober by the time we headed back to the bus for the trip back to the hotel. I was proud of myself because it was HOT! Like 85 with 100% humidity. I used spf 50 and still got burned. Anyway, I was thinking how miserable I would've been if I drank too much. I drank alot beer but alot of water too! Words can't describe how much fun we had. The band really set the tone for the day. They even played our wedding song which I've never heard live. So I made David stand up and dance with me:-) There were so many people by our location...eventhough there were 5 other bands playing in the lot. I guess Tom Watt is the best because there was a huge crowd. Everyone was dancing and having a great time.
Can't wait for next years concert!
